Scotty Shaw (Duke University, 2009) serves as the European Commission's #EUvsVirus CTO and the National Curator of the United States. His journey towards becoming the global expert started in 2014 with HackDuke, the premier hackathon for social impact and Duke University's flagship event.

In September 2017, he started transforming the innovation desert in the South Central United States. Before the coronavirus national emergency declaration, his 501c3 nonprofit Tech Tree Root launched HackCOVID to inspire American action in the fight against the global pandemic.

Afterwards, Scotty helped the European Commission initiate #EUvsVirus (Hackathon + Matchathon + EIC COVID Platform) and set world records: 30,000+ participants, 2,164 solutions, and 2,235 new partnerships.
